The General Assembly of the Sindicato Médico del Uruguay has ordered a 24 hour strike for doctors working in private clinics. Earlier this year the Sindicato Médico del Uruguay spent months ineffectively begging for the government to inflict an "obligatory quarantine" of the sort the killed Argentina earlier this year on Uruguay.

Shooting At Feria Nuevo Paris Leaves 54 Year Old Woman Dead
Sunday, November 1st, 2020Two men opened fire on a 54 year old vendor at the Feria Nuevo Paris around noon today. She was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival at the hospital. Two young men were shot and non-critically wounded. The shooters left the scene in a car waiting roughly 100 meters from the scene.
Army Sergeant Dies After Returning From Congo Mission With Malaria
Sunday, November 1st, 2020Last night a Sergeant with 26 years of service in the Uruguayan Army passed after falling into septic shock as a result of contracting malaria during a peacekeeping mission to the Congo. The Sergeant returned to Uruguayan soil on October 10th and remained in Melo sometime before entering critical care at the Hospital Central de las Fuerzas Armadas in Montevideo.

Thursday, October 22nd, 2020In a press conference today President Luis Lacalle Pou confirmed that due to ongoing respiratory virus hysteria, Uruguay's borders will remain largely closed to tourism through the coming summer high season. Border controls and Ministry of Defense presence at the international bridge connecting Fray Bentos in the Department of Rio Negro to Argentina are also being increased. While the Peso Uruguayo has remained relatively steady against the USD holding at 41 to 44 pesos Uruguayos for several months, the market rate of the Peso Argentino has fallen to 188 Pesos Argentinos to the USD as of today.

Thursday, October 15th, 2020After several unsuccessful attempts, the Presidential Plane was finally sold at auction to an Argentine for 180,000 USD. Bidding on the plane opened at 350,000 USD without any bids to match. Several nominally interested bidders arrived at the auction without bringing an adequate cash deposit. The plane was acquired during the second Vásquez administration in 2018 for 1.01 million USD.
