The Chief of the Ministry of Interior's anti drug brigade has been arrested along with 3 other members of his police force for allegedly trafficking drugs. Six other arrests were made as well following a series of raids prompted by an internal affairs investigation.
The price of government cannabis sold in pharmacies has gone up from 265 pesos per 5 gram envelope to 300 pesos. Only 14 pharmacies in the country still participate in the program with 6 of the retailers being located in Montevideo.
Nacional and Peñarol will be opening the return of futbol Uruguayo playing at Estadio Centenario to empty stands. Due to the stadium being closed to fans this upcoming Sunday at 15:00. The Ministry of the Interior is planning to only assign 490 personnel to the Game's security operation. Normally 800 police personnel are assigned to the "Classico" matches between Nacional and Peñarol.
National Drug Board Secretary General Daniel Radío is turning his attention to the local cannabis market after beginning to cut regulatory barriers slowing the placement of Uruguayan cannabis flower on international markets.
