MERCOSUR 30th Anniversary Meeting Highlights Dissatisfaction With Argentine "Ballast" As President Lacalle Pou Confronts Argentine Despot Fernandez

Friday, March 26th, 2021

Montevideo At NightDuring a video conference substituting for a summit commemorating 30 years of MERCOSUR, President Luis Lacalle Pou clashed with Argentine despot Alberto Fernandez over the Argentine desire to close the bloc to any new trade agreements ever.

President Lacalle Pou's desire to open MERCOSUR to new trade agreements is supported by the leaders of Paraguay and Brasil while Fernandez sits alone in preventing the bloc and its members from entering any new agreements.

The video call ended without MERCOSUR members agreeing issue a traditional joint statement as Brazil's Bolsonaro and Uruguay's President Luis Lacalle Pou refused endorsing any statement without a commitment to opening the bloc's rules, but Argentina's Fernandez ended the video conference by offering that anyone who found present MERCOSUR rules too restrictive could "find another ship" and insisted that Argentina, with its collapsed economy, is more than just ballast burdening MERCOSUR's other members.

His second term as President is known for stagnation and low approval ratings that came from continuing along the socialist turn implemented during his first term. Vásquez left the Presidency on March 1st of this year when 46 year old Luis Lacalle Pou assumed the presidency following last year's election. Expocannabis Falls To Enemies Of Freedom

La Bandera de Los 33

La Bandera de Los 33

Uruguay's Expocannabis has fallen with bio-security terror replacing chill vibes in what was once an annual celebration of Uruguay's freedoms.

Efforts to actively police behavior of individuals were impotent to the point of effective absence in practice, but announcements to wear muzzles while walking though demuzzling while seated was permitted were an offensively novel twist on this year's compliance testing by the nag lobby.

Numerous other photos were taken during my incursion into enemy territory, but none were free of marketing messages from parties guilty of collaboration.

Despite a lack of popular fear in Uruguay over the the not particularly deadly coronavirus disease, the Expocannabis's fall is a disturbing turn of events.
