Maryland Judge Julie Stevenson Solt issued a sentence of probation and an order to complete an "anger management program" for the killing of a 59 year old John Marvin Weed at the Great Fredrick Fair (archived). The two offenders are brothers who were 15 and 16 at the time they answered Mr. Weed's refusal to give them a dollar with repeated blows to the head. After Mr. Weed collapsed the two brothers are recorded on video jumping with excitement. Following the the attack Mr. Weed never recovered consciousness before his vital signs ceased.
The younger of the brothers, the one who initiated the confrontation and delivered the final blow, had already been sentenced to participate in a "behavioral modification program" for his role.
