Banco Central del Uruguay Moves To Begin Using Interest Rates As Policy Tool After Abandoning Practice In 2013

The Comité de Política Monetaria of the Banco Central de Uruguay announced today that they are beginning to move towards using interest rates as a policy tool after abandoning the practice in 2013 in favor of manipulating the monetary aggregate. Per BCU President Diego Labat the only priority in his central bank's interventions is to be the control and reduction of inflation.
