NYPD Begins Rate Limiting Retirements After 400% Increase Compared To 2019 Exit Rate

The New York Police Department pension section has hit capacity in processing retirement applications as the exodus from US "law enforcement" work continues. In the week spanning June 29th through July 6th, 179 cops filed retirement papers compared to 35 during the same stretch in 2019. Among other measures to slow the flood of cops quitting, overtime for the pensions section has been cancelled as part of 1 billion USD in cuts to the NYPD budget.
