Intendencia Of Montevideo: Number Of "Endemic Trash Dumps" More Than Doubled In Three Years

The Intendencia of Montevideo announced this week that the number of "endemic" dumps more than doubled to 210 over the past three years. The July 2017 survey revealed a mere 100 endemic dumps in the department of Montevideo. Per the Intendencia's estimates they remove 700 cubic meters from the nominally forbidden open air disposal sites taking the trash to the Sitio de DisposiciĆ³n Final de Residuos Felipe Cardoso. The Intendencia further estimates that 80% of the dumpsters where trash ought to be disposed have been vandalized.
